Today is 10/17/2018 and I have a lot to be thankful for. I'll get to that in a bit. Pops is thinking about selling the farm in Hagerman, Idaho. Him and Mom would be moving in with my sister Jennifer, she lives in Ogden, Ut. Since they let the idea out the "true" nature of people has started to show. A
younger brother in Ashton, ID said he would like one of the tractors, yes, he really could use it. Julie and I visited him in Ashton and he has a little snow blower/thrower to do a whole parking lot. He has a guy on contract but he gets to it during his route. Nancy and Todd already took the shipping container and moved it to Idaho City. I'm sure it const a few hundred bucks just to transport it there. Jennifer quit her job in anticipation of the folks moving in. Mom said she would pay Jennifer what she was making at her job to take care of them. ???? So now I heard from Jason that Pops is kinda getting cold feet about selling the place and recusing himself to a basement apartment. Ya? like no kidding!!
I know the farm is hard work, especially for an 80 year old man. I think it gives him purpose so I hope he keeps it. It's probably only worth about 250k-300k. But there is no mortgage so it's pure gravy, minus any taxes for uncle Sam. If it was me I would travel the world and enjoy. Dad doesn't travel so that's no good for him. He is manifesting signs of dementia and I think mom gets concerned about being alone with him.
Julie and I bought a new motorhome. A 27' Coachman with two slideouts. Nothing too fancy-first time RVers so we bought what I felt comfortable with. We also upgraded the boat, FourWinns DS242. It is quit the ride, you can surf behind it. That is the only reason we upgraded. The previous boat was just right but rear prop you could only wakeboard or tube. The payments kinda stress me out, but we do have cash in the bank to pay them off. I just have always had a problem with payments (obligations).
We went to Yellowstone NP Oct 11-15, 2018. It was a relaxing trip. The weather was cold at night, 15degrees. Daytime was in the high 40's. Julie's back was hurting a bit, she was rinning on the treadmill and overdid it, trying to keep the weight down. Anyways, I have been trying to be a nicer person, it is one of my goals for 2018. We were waiting to re-enter the NP so I pulled into the express lane. The guy in front of us was buying a pass and then had questions. As I pulled to the window I said, "I thought this was the express lane." The Ranger said it was and replied that he was answering questions for the guy. I could see him showing something on his phone to be helpful. The Ranger just dropped his hands and had that look of I'm sorry, you got me. I totally felt bad for making him feel that way for being helpful.
That's different than the 80 year old looking guy at Macy's last week that came up to me as I was putting my grocery items onto the conveyor belt. He had 10 Hostess pies in his hand and said, "you don't mind if I cut." I gave him the look and replied, "I guess your time is more precious cuz you have less of it." I'll do better.
